Their technical condition, passive and active safety of the park of road vehicles have a significant impact on the number of road traffic accidents and consequences from them. Improvements in the safety of road vehicles can help reduce the number of victims and injuries on the roads. The new design of the vehicle, the better protection for passengers, the effective stopping, improvement in lighting, new warning and control of the stability systems, the speed, the systems of safety belts and air bags, etc. mark a stable progress in road traffic safety.

The risk of finding oneself in a road accident with severe consequences is significantly bigger for old cars. A study of heavy road traffic accidents, having resulted in death on the spot, in the first half of 2011, indicates that nearly 60% of cars were over 20 years old.

The increase in the safety of the park of road vehicles is a key factor for achieving the objectives of the national strategy for improving the safety of traffic. A study suggests that if the car park is replaced with latest cars with a high degree of passive and active safety, the number of victims on the roads will immediately decrease by 30 %.
